‘What price is too high to pay, even for love? When Jace and Clary meet again, Clary is horrified to discover that the demon Lilith’s magic has bound her beloved Jace together with her evil brother Sebastian, and that Jace has become a servant of evil. The Clave is out to destroy Sebastian, but there is no way to harm one boy without destroying the other. As Alec, Magnus, Simon, and Isabelle wheedle and bargain with Seelies, demons, and the merciless Iron Sisters to try to save Jace, Clary plays a dangerous game of her own. The price of losing is not just her own life, but Jace’s soul. She’s willing to do anything for Jace, but can she still trust him? Or is he truly lost?’

I found this book rather interesting, but I will have to be honest, I found it a tad boring at first. I think this is because when Clary was kept up in that secret house that travelled through dimensions with Sebastian and Jace just wasn’t not very interesting for me, there was not enough action or anything and I feel that even though it was needed for the story line it was a tad to long and a bit excessive but the book got interesting when Jace, even for a short time, became himself and was in control of who he was and his emotions through the mark on his body that combined Sebastian and Jace as one, being harmed for a short period of time. This was when the book got really exciting and I felt completely compelled to keep reading this book until the very end. I felt so many emotions in this book, some of them I don’t even know how I would cope with these feelings or situations in real life if they happened to me, even though obviously they wont because this is a fiction  book based on vampires and demons etc 😛

When Jace became in control of himself and was separated from Clary for a short period of time to tell Clary what Sebastian and his ‘other self’ were planning, Jace was going to take him self to the Clave even if it meant that he was going to get killed. Clary couldn’t handle the idea of losing Jace and told Sebastian that Jace was going to run and ruin their plan to destroy the shadow hunter world. This hit me really hard, the way Cassandra Clare the way Jace’s face looked when the girl he is in love with betrayed him just completely hit me in so many ways. Even though she was trying to stop Jace from the possibility of Jace getting himself killed by the clave, I did not think that this was fair of her to take away Jace’s independence and right to make his own decisions about his life.
The other part of the story that made me angry was when Sebastian was forcing himself onto clary, his sister. I was not just angry because they are brother and sister but because he was sexually assaulting her! I hate reading these scenes in books because they make me so angry. now I’m not saying that these scenes shouldn’t been in books, because it is a real problem that happens in real life, the topic just makes me angry like it would a lot of people, especially people that have gone through such a horrible experience.
I was very sad to find out that Alec and Magnus broke up, they were one of my favourite couples! I thought that these two would be able to get through anything! I really hope in Heavenly fire, book 6 of the series that Alec and Magnus get back together!
I rated this book 3 stars on Good Reads I wanted to give it a 3.5 stars but you cant do that on Goodreads. I gave it a 3 stars because I liked reading it but I got a bit bored and it didn’t capture my attention until the last quarter of the book. But that all comes down to personal opinion and what sort of story plots we like in a book. For me I wanted more shadow hunter fighting scenes and more mention of the vampires and the werewolves.
Cassandra has once again created another book in this series that describes the characters in such a realistic capturing way. Cassandra Clare is a brilliant writer!
I cant wait to read the next book in this series!
What are your thoughts on this book series? Have you read it yet? 🙂

Girl Online Going Solo Review

Today I am doing a review on the third book in one of my favourite series that I have been waiting months for: Girl Online! I remember when I finished reading the first two books: Girl Online and Girl Online On tour that I was dying for a third book, but at the point in time Zoe Sugg, also known as Zoella had not released any information about if she was releasing a third book. So when she released the information that in fact she was working on a third book earlier this year I was so excited. I raced down to my store yesterday to pick up this book, because the day had finally arrived, the book I as dying to read was finally released! Girl Online Going Solo.

However, I was not able to finish this book in one day, the way I would have liked, but life got in the way. The joys of being an Adult! However, I finally got to sit down today and read the last 250 pages of this wonderful book. I’m so excited to share my thoughts with you all, I currently can not share my feelings and emotions with my fiancĂ©, the person that has had to hear all my feelings and deal with all my emotions on this series since day 1, as he is currently streaming the new PokĂ©mon Sun and Moon release! So, I thought I would share with you guys, while I am waiting for him to finish streaming for the night, which shouldn’t be too far off as it is currently 11:23pm as I type this out.

Yes, I’ve also been playing the new PokĂ©mon Sun and Moon today too! What can I say, I’m a bit of a ‘nerd’, is that the word people like to describe us wonderful people that love books, games and everything amazing!

Please bear with me while I try to give a short summary of the book and while I try to put my emotions and feelings into words, I find this rather difficult to put my feelings into words online.

There may be a few spoilers, I apologise for this, I will try to keep them to a minimal, but please read at your own discretion! 🙂

Penny’s life is back to normal.

As Penny starts the school year she’s ready to face the world – alone. Noah has gone off the radar after ending his world tour early and no one, including Penny, knows where he is. So when she accepts Megan’s invitation to visit her performing arts school it seems like an opportunity to make some new friends.

Helping everyone else seems to be the right remedy. Elliot needs her friendship more than ever, and she meets Posey – struggling with stage fright and in need of support. But is charming Scottish boy Callum the right kind of distraction? And can Penny truly move on when  Noah’s shadow seems to haunt her round every corner?

Summary:

This third book in the Girl Online series: Going Solo, is about how Penny tries to go back to her normal life, ‘normal’ being how her life was before she started dating the famous hot band guy Noah from New York. After the two breaking up and going their separate ways, Noah finds that the break up for him is harder than what he thought, quitting the world tour and going in hiding to figure out his head and emotions, not telling anyone where he is, not even his grandma and his little sister Bella.

Penny is heartbroken and tries to find ways to distract her self by infesting all her time in to her blog, and her photography as well as helping those around her, especially Elliot, her childhood best friend and her new found friend Posey that she meets while visiting her friend Megan at her New School.

Penny’s life starts to change when she visits Megan one weekend at Megan’s New School: Madame Laplage, a school for drama, musical, and anything creative, even photography. This is when Penny meets a hot Scottish boy Callum, a boy that loves photography as much as she does, however this soon leads to her having a panic attack, having being a sufferer of anxiety, knows she must get away and runs out of the school common room leaving Callum starring after her completely confused. While re-covering from her panic attack sees a girl from across the grass crying, so she walks over and asks if she is okay, little did she know she girl was going to be her new best friend – Posey.

Posey suffering from Stage fright, needs Penny’s help to over come this to perform the lead role in her schools performance. Penny helps by introducing Posey and Megan to Leah Brown, a famous singer. However, this eventually goes drastically wrong, pulling Megan, Posey and Penny apart after one of these girls portrayed her by leaking one of Leahs new songs that are yet to be released yet. Penny finds out who her true friends are.

In the meantime, she finds out that Callum, happens to be the cousin of the couple that are getting married in Scotland. The wedding that Penny’s mum and Noah’s grandmother happening to be catering. Little did Penny know, that while she was dancing with Callum at this wedding, was going to be the time that she got that moment that she had been waiting for, Noah’s return. Leaving Penny feeling confused and an emotional wreck, deciding whether she wants to be with Noah or just be friends?

My feelings and Opinions:

First, I would like to start this off by stating that when I picked up this book yesterday, the first thing I did was read the blurb, this was a bit devastating for me. This was because the blurb gave the impression that Noah and Penny were not going to get back together, making me too worried to read it, but I pushed past this, my heart telling me that for sure Noah and Penny would be back together and everything would be okay again in the world of Girl Online. I’m completely team Pennoah. To me these two people are just absolutely gorgeous together, truly magical. I would be completely devastated if Zoella ended this book with these two not being back together.

When Noah turned up at the Wedding to ask Penny to dance while she was with Callum, I was mixed with some many emotions. I was so sad for Penny because she was so hear broken over losing Noah and was trying so hard to move past it all, so I was all for her meeting new guys but I also wanted Noah to turn up and fix everything. However, I did not expect it to happen while she was on a date with Callum. My heart went out to Penny in this moment, I would not know what to do if I was in her position. However, I was still so happy that Noah was back! It gave me hope that Pennoah would be back together at last!

I really love the friendship that was created between Penny and Elliot, it’s such a beautiful friendship, nothing could ever get between them and it is simply beautiful, you do not seem many of those friendships around. Elliot is such a beautiful character so full of life and emotions and simply makes you feel like you want to protect him and hug him and tell him everything is going to be alright!

I absolutely loved this book! I was sad that it had to end, but I was so happy that I got to read this book and be apart of the Girl Online book community. This book has helped me so much in getting through my own life issues, and has been an inspiring series to read. Especially because Penny has her own blog, and one of the main plots in this series is her blog, I have found it rather inspiring for my own blog. This book series: Girl Online has opening up my mind to many ideas, inspiring me to get back into my passion of art after reading about Penny’s inspirations and dedication to her Photography. It helped me realise that I have missed doing the things I love. The relationship between Noah and Penny also make me feel so grateful and happy for my fiancĂ©, sometimes it’s nice to have that reminder of what you have and to not take that for granted you know? Because I know that I am extremely lucky to have my fiancĂ©, and like everyone, sometimes I forget how lucky I am. This is the type of book that any young person would love. I fell in love with this series straight away and I know I could read this again and again!

I gave this book 5 stars because I loved it so much, there is nothing bad that I can say about this book! Zoella did an amazing job! I hope that she continues to write, even if it is not for Girl Online, but for other books! She has an amazing talent!

Have you read this book? Are you going to? What are your thoughts? 🙂

Mortal Instruments: City of Fallen Angels – Book Review

Another book review! My second book for the month of November! I finished book 4 of the Mortal Instruments: City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare. I loved reading this book! I had many mixed feelings and thoughts on this book. This review may contain a few spoilers, so please read at your own discretion. I will try to keep the spoilers to a minimal, but sometimes spoilers are a must in a book review 🙂

‘Clary is back in New York and life is good: she’s training to be a Shadowhunter and is finally able to call Jace her boyfriend. But nothing comes without a price. When Jace inexplicably begins to pull away from her, Clary is forced to acknowledge that she herself has set in motion a chain of events that could lead to the loss of everything she loves. Even Jace.’

‘Love. Blood. Betrayal. Revenge. The stakes are higher than ever…’

Summary:

This fourth book in the Mortal Instruments series is about the issue of someone quite strong in power is murdering Shadowhunters that use to be apart of Valentines inner circle, which could cause another war for the Shadowhunters. Meanwhile, Simon has told his Mum that he is a Vampire, she did not take the news well however, and Simon has moved out of home to live with his new band member, Kyle, who happens to be a werewolf, hired to help Simon into the transition period of being a Vampire. Simon is also dealing with the issue that someone wants him dead, everywhere he goes people are jumping out of dark ally ways trying to kill him, all because of his misfortune to have the Mark of Cain, a Shadowhunter mark that is slowly ruining his life. He is also dating two girls at once, neither girl knows the other exists and then one night they discover each other and he is left standing single within the blink of an eye.

Clary and Jace are finally happily together, but the happiness is short lived when Jace starts to have dreams about Clary that turn into his worst nightmare; him killing Clary in horrible ways. Instead of him seeking help or talking to Clary he pulls away from her, too scared to tell anyone in fear that his up bringing with Valentine is finally catching up with him. Clary feeling like she’s losing the love of her life tries really hard to hold on to him by delving into the mystery, only to discover that she is the cause of these events that are taking place.

Both issues that Simon, Clary and Jace are dealing with end up in the event that Simon is kidnapped and Clary is also kidnapped by Jace who is being controlled by Lilith. Stirring up an issue that they never thought they would have to deal with again: Sebastian.

My Feelings and opinions:

This book put me through a whirlwind of emotions. The idea of Simon dating two people, made me so angry. I did not understand how this could occur and why he did not try to fix it. I was also quite confused on to why Clary did not push him more to fix this issue of dating two girls at once and thinking that he was going to get away with it if he kept hiding it from them. Clary, being Simon’s best friend should have been more serious with the topic with Simon.

another topic that I was really emotional about was when Jace told Clary about is dreams of killing and hurting her, why did she not freak out? Why did she still feel comfortable being around him in only her undergarments? I would have been freaking and wanting to run out that door if the love on my life told me that they were having dreams of hurting me or killing me. Maybe because in the real world not the fictional world, this is a sign of being a ‘bad’ and an ‘insane’ person.

I felt so sorry for Simon, how his whole life has been turned upside down and that was put into perspective quite a lot in this book. He’s out in the world on his own, trying to look after himself like an adult while still trying to finish school and trying to maintain human and adapting to being a Vampire. Simon is going through a lot in this book but he is still trying to look after everyone around him.

Cassandra Clare did a wonderful job in writing these characters personalities and portraying the struggles that each character would go through in every situation that they are in. This makes it so easily relatable because we all share the same emotions, it is how we are all connected, its so we understand each other; through our emotions.

My Rating:

I give this book 4 stars, I truly recommend reading this series if you like fantasy/young adult books, or if you just want to try something different. This series will give you so many emotions but you will also love it too!

Have you read the Mortal Instruments before? Or are you currently reading it? What are your thoughts on this series? 🙂

Harry Potter and The Cursed Child Review

The Eighth Story. Nineteen years Later….

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with his past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes darkness comes from unexpected places.’

The above is the description written on the inside cover of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

July 21st 2007 was the day the last book of Harry Potter was released; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, the book we all wanted but were dreading at the same time. We didn’t want it to end! But when news got released that J.K Rowling was working with John Tiffany and Jack Thorne to release a script form of a new Harry Potter story that was set 19 years in the future all us Harry Potter fans could have died with happiness, it was a dream come true!

Everyone was racing in stores to pick up their copy of the new Harry Potter book. However, there has been some debate about the book as it was in script form not novel form. Before I start my thoughts on this new Harry Potter book, I must warn that there will be spoilers, so if you have not read it yet and don’t want spoilers, stop here! go pick up that book and come back. I don’t want anything ruined for you, but if you love some spoilers, then go right ahead and read what I’m about to say about this book.

Plot:

This book is set nineteen years in the future. Harry and Ginny marry and have 3 children; James Sirius Potter and Albus Severus Potter, Lily Luna Potter, while Ron and Hermione married and have two children; Rose Granger-Weasley and Hugo Granger-Weasley. Harry is the head of Law Enforcement at the Ministry of Magic, while Hermione is head of Ministry of Magic. Ron manages Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes.

This book focuses on Albus  and Rose’s first year at Hogwarts. While boarding the Hogwarts Express at Platform 9 3/4, Albus meets Scorpius Malfoy, Draco’s son. Albus and Scorpius are both placed in Slytherin House by the sorting house once reaching Hogwarts. This was somewhat of a shock to Rose as her family and Albus’ family are all from Gryffindor House. Albus struggles to fit in at Hogwarts, he feels there is reputation to live up to having his father being the famous Harry Potter, the boy who lived. Albus feels like he is nothing like his father after being placed into Slytherin instead of Gryffindor feeling like he is a disappointment to his father, putting a tremendous strain on his relationship with his father. Also putting a strain on his relationship with Rose because she becomes a popular student and joins the Gryffindor Quidditch team as a chaser.

In the mean time, Albus’ new best friend Scorpius is struggling with the death of his mother, Astoria dealing with the rumours that are spreading around the wizarding world that he is Voldemort’s son. This goes on for three years.

One Summer, an illegal Time-Turner is then confiscated by a death eater, causing the Ministry of Magic (Harry and Hermione) to look in recent activity that has occurred by Voldemort’s allies. During this series of events, they are found to be dealing with another matter at hand, involving Amos, Cedric Diggory’s father who turns up at Harry and Ginny’s house demanding Harry for the time-turner after hearing that the Ministry of Magic is in possession of one now. Amos wishes to use the time-turner so that he can go back in time to save his son with the support of his niece and caretaker, Delphi. However, Harry refuses to help Amos, in fear that it will change the future negatively. Albus, eavesdropping on the conversation is mad with his father for not helping Amos, and befriends Delphi.

Harry then tries to mend his relationship with Albus by trying to make a connection with him, through offering his old baby blanket to Albus. Albus refuses the give causing an argument causing a love potion to spill onto to the blanket accidently, both Harry and Albus end up telling each other that they wish they weren’t related, destroying what little bond they had left. Albus then leaves for his fourth year at Hogwarts while feeling hatred for his father. Albus and Scorpius take it upon themselves to then leave their journey to Hogwarts to steal the time-turner from the Ministry of Magic, against his Father’s wishes, as Albus blames Harry for Cedric death, so they head off to find Delphi to work along side them on their mission.

Harry starts to have nightmares about Voldemort, feeling pain in his scar, something that has not occurred since he defeated Voldemort 19 years ago. This causes Hermione, being the head of Ministry of Magic to hold a meeting concerning the possibility that Voldemort might be back. They do not get far with this, no one being convinced that there is a threat from Voldemort, Harry, Ginny and Draco soon find out that Albus and Scorpius are missing. They conclude that Albus ran away after the argument with his father, and Scorpius running away after being pulled into their family issues.

What they do not know though is that Delphi has helped Scorpius and Albus get into the Ministry of Magic, disguised as Harry , Ron and Hermione with the use of polyjuice potion allowing them to get the time-turner. Only to then end up on a whole new adventure where they change the past which ruins the future, trying to right their wrongs only to find out that Delphi isn’t who she says she is, she is Voldemort’s daughter. Starting a whole new journey for Albus and Scorpius which ends up allowing Albus and Scorpius to amend their relationships with their father.

I’m not going to add anymore about the plot because that will ruin the experience of reading the book yourself.

Overall:

I absolutely loved this book! I’m giving it 5 stars because it is one of my favourite books in the Harry Potter series which is in my top 5 favourite book series! I would recommend it to anyone! I got so much excitement and enjoyment while reading this book, however I would have to say that I’m a bit disappointed that this book will not be released in novel form or as a movie! I feel like there were a few unanswered questions, even though it answered some questions that I had at the end of the 7th book, it left me with new questions that remained unanswered but I feel that almost every book series does that intentionally, whether that’s because they want readers to interpret things themselves or its the authors way of keeping it open for if they decide that they want to write another book later on. This book was well written and was rather easy to read, which is the good quality about scripts, they flow easily. however I would love this in novel form because I know in novel form it would be written in a different way with more detail, it would possibly answer the questions that I have. However, this was still a really good book and I wouldn’t want anything to change about the script itself.

WWW Wednesday

I’m a day late posting this, because I’ve been busy with University exams. So I apologise for my lateness!

This post is a weekly feature that is being hosted by Taking on a World of Words. The idea is to give an update on the books that I have read and am currently reading. Anyone can participate in this feature.

All you have to do is answer the three W’s:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish?
  • What do you think you will read next?

So here we go!

What am I currently reading?

At the moment I am currently reading The Mortal Instruments series along with The Infernal device series as I am reading them in order of the publication date. If you are interested in this order of reading the two series intertwined you can check my post about it here: https://oncemorewithfeelingweb.wordpress.com/2016/10/14/mortal-instruments-and-infernal-device-order/

I am currently half way through book three of The Mortal Instruments series: City of Glass.

What did you recently finish?

Apart from finishing books 1 and 2 of The Mortal Instruments, I finished reading The Splinted series by A.G. Howard. This series is a spin off version of Alice in Wonderland!

splintered book cover2.png

I loved this series, because I absolutely love the original Alice in Wonderland story by Lewis Carroll. This series by A.G. Howard takes a spin off on the series in a magical beautiful set of 4 books, making it easy to create beautiful images in your mind making you feel like you are in the magical world that is set in this book.

This book is about a main character Alyssa Gardner who has inherited the family curse that has been inherited by every female in the family since her ancestor Alice Liddell, the character from Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. The curse of hearing the whispers of bugs and flowers which happened to end up putting her mother in a mental institution after an incident in the garden with her daughter Alyssa at a young age. Alyssa learns to hide her curse from everyone around her by using it as her inspirations for her art work, creating beautiful yet oddly scaring paintings.

Alyssa soon learns that everything she thought was fiction is actually real. That the world of wonderland is as true as it could be. Alyssa finds her self in wonderland with a guy that she has loved since she was a child, a guy that is also her best friend Jebediah Holt. She finds herself being put through tests while also trying to keep Jeb alive from the Moth that has been visiting her through the day and through her dreams, Morpheus.

She has to chose between the world she’s been living in her whole life or Wonderland, the world where everything is magical, the world where she feels she truly loves, to do this she must pass challenges, defeat red and chose between the love of her childhood, Jeb or Morpheus the new but somewhat oddly familiar mysterious sexy guy that she has memories with that she thought were just dreams.

This series is amazing and truly beautiful and magical! If you love Alice in Wonderland I recommend this series! It’s a must! I fell in love all over again with the idea of Wonderland being a magical place! I would definitely read this again, and would recommend it do anyone. This series continues with 3 other books: Unhinged, Ensnared and Untamed!

What do you think you will read next?

My plan is to read Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Mass. The first book in the Throne of Glass series.

Throne of Glass UK.jpgI’ve heard so much about this series, so I thought I would give it a go since there are so many good reviews. I read the first chapter on ibooks, before buying it and it captured my attention, I was drawn to read more, so I went out and brought the first two books in this series. It’s a young adult fantasy book that has been said to have been inspired by the original fairy tale Cinderella. I’m quite excited to read this story and share my thoughts, I’ll be posting my review once I finish reading this book.

What have you been reading? I’d love to hear about books you have read, if you have any recommendations as to what I should read please comment below! 🙂

Mortal Instruments and Infernal Device order

I’m currently reading The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare for the like 10th time! Because, HELLO! who doesn’t love this series!

However, I have not yet read the Infernal device series yet or Lady midnight which is the first book in the Dark artifices series by Cassandra Clare. My friend told me that to get the real experience there was a particular order to read all these books in because they all intertwine. So I went for a hunt, I found this websitehttp://shadowhunters.com/ it has everything you can think of when it comes to The Mortal Instruments series!

It advises the order to read the two series; The Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices as follows:

Read the First three books of Mortal Instruments:

  1. City of Bones
  2. City of Ashes
  3. City of Glass.

Read the First book of Infernal Devices:

  1.  Clock work Angel

Read book four of Mortal Instruments:

4. City of fallen Angels

Read book two of Infernal devices:

2. Clock work Prince

Read book 5 of Mortal Instruments:

5. City of Lost Souls

Read the last book to infernal devices:

3. Clockwork Princess

Read book 6 of Mortal Instruments:

6. City of Heavenly fire.

You can then head on to read The first book to the Dark Artifices series: Lady Midnight14686117_190981504675733_592452366_n.jpg

I have actually like the way this has been ordered, because it is actually in order of publication. I’m currently finishing the third book to the Mortal Instruments, ready to start book one in Infernal devices. I have not read the infernal devices yet so I’ll definitely be righting my opinion and view on the series when I finish reading them.

Has anyone else found this reading order helpful or have you read these differently?
